Beautiful ship will leave Douglas. I will miss her there. I won't be there and watch her moving out because I live in Maine and will move to Michigan after June 5th. It is good that volunteers come and work on her. I hope she will have safe trip to Canada. Thank for take good care of her.

The middle mast was taken out at the time radar was installed. It had served as the antenna and the radio room was underneath. A staircase was then built from the promenade deck to the storm deck where the mast had been.Keewatin will be restored to her final configuration.

Over the active years of the Keewatin and Assiniboia they had various combinations of masts. Some times three (fore, main, and mizzen) some times with either the main or mizzen missing. What combination will be used in the latest restoration?

Saturday June 2 is the target date. However it is weather sensitive and strong winds might prvent it as we are pulling Keewatin through a 1 mile channel dug from the lake silt that is 50 feet wide and 10 feet deep. Keewatin is 48 feet wide and 10 feet deep...We are using a BIG tug boat!

I thought group of volunteer will run S.S. Keewatin museum there. It was nice that Skyline company bought her and bring her back to Port McNicoll. I worried if RJ Peterson's son, Matt will scrap her if no one buy her after RJ is gone. She is beautiful ship.

Basically the Skyline employee is local to Port McNicoll. We need a few people to learn about the magic of Keewatin to teach the rest..

Don't forgot to put Canadian flag on her. Will Skyline employee work on ship? I noticed that two volunteers and one Skyline employee will come for training.
Keep posting!
